The Holiday Inn Royal Victoria Sheffield has teamed up with the Sheffield Assay Office, Museums Sheffield and Chatsworth House to provide you this exclusive package. The history of The Holiday Inn Royal Victoria Sheffield began when the hotel, built of red brick and Pennine stone was officially opened on the 28th July 1862 by the Sheffield Hotel Company. The hotel added the ’Royal’ prefix following a visit in 1875 by their Highnesses the Prince and Princess of Wales, later King Edward VII and Queen Alexandra. The hotel has enjoyed further royal patronage including visits from Queen Victoria in 1897 and Princesses Elizabeth and Margaret in 1947. The Holiday Inn Royal Victoria Sheffield offers you all the comforts you would expect from a modern hotel, combined with the character of a Grade II listed building.

The Sheffield Assay Office is steeped in Hallmarking history dating back to 1773, however on a contrasting note it is as modern as you can get being the only brand new Assay Office in the country and provides visitors with an exclusive behind the scenes tour of its facilities. The Sheffield Assay Office tests and marks precious metal, undertakes traditional hallmarking, laser marking, laser etching and hallmark identification. Many of the collections from the Sheffield Assay Office are on display at Museums Sheffield: Millennium Gallery. Museums Sheffield: Millennium Gallery is an outstanding venue for the visual arts, craft and design, right in the heart of Sheffield. Both elegant and innovative, the gallery breaks with the traditional institutional image of an art gallery and is a welcoming and vibrant place to be for pleasure, education and business. With four individual galleries under one roof, there are all sorts of wonderful things to see and enjoy. Thursday:
Check in to the Holiday Inn Royal Victoria Sheffield.
Arrive for Afternoon Tea in the Grand Lounge at the Holiday Inn Royal Victoria Sheffield
Dinner in Cunningham’s Restaurant (time to be confirmed at the time of booking)
Overnight Accommodation

Friday:
Enjoy the Holiday Inn Breakfast in Cunningham’s Restaurant
10.30am - Arrive at Sheffield Assay Office (10-15 minute drive from hotel)
Morning Tea or Coffee on Arrival followed by an illustrated talk about the history and work of the Sheffield Assay Office. Exclusive tour of the marking hall followed by a viewing of pieces from the private library and silver collection. Contemporary collection gallery followed by a buffet lunch. Please advise of any dietary requirements at the time of booking.
2.30pm - Meet at the Millennium Gallery where a member of the Museum Sheffield Team will meet you on arrival and show you around the venue. They will then leave you to browse the various collections at your leisure.
Dinner in Cunningham’s Restaurant ( time to be confirmed at the time of booking)

Saturday:
Enjoy the Holiday Inn Breakfast in Cunningham’s Restaurant
Checkout and obtain your tickets for Chatsworth House and Gardens (Chatsworth is approx. 45 minutes drive from the Holiday Inn Royal Victoria Sheffield.
Don’t forget to visit Chatsworth House Farm Shop which is located a short 10 minute drive from the main house.
